Help for parents and guardians

TrophyTrail is a progress tracking app for children: your child picks a goal, fills in one square of a trail each time they do it, and collects trophies as they reach the milestones along the way. It runs entirely on your device, needs no internet connection and no account, and nothing your child creates ever leaves the device.

If you cannot find an answer below, email us at support@mytrophytrail.com and we will help.

How does the parental gate work?

Before the app does anything that should involve a grown-up, it shows a "Quick check" screen. That screen asks a multiplication question with the numbers written out as words, for example "What is fourteen times three?", and you answer by typing the number. Spelling the numbers out is deliberate: a child in the app's age band can tap a keypad but cannot read the question and work out the answer.

The gate sits in front of:

  • Opening the in-app purchase and buying the unlock
  • Any link that leaves the app and opens the web browser
  • Deleting all data

A new question is generated each time and after every wrong answer, so the answer cannot be memorised.

I cannot get past the parental gate. What now?

Read the question carefully, work out the two numbers multiplied together, and type the result as digits only, with no words and no spaces. If you answer incorrectly the app simply shows a new question, so you can try as many times as you like and you will never be locked out. Tap "Never mind" to close the gate and nothing happens.

Nothing important is trapped behind the gate: your child can keep using every part of the app they already have without passing it. If a reading or accessibility need makes the gate genuinely unusable for you, email support@mytrophytrail.com and tell us what you were trying to do, and we will walk you through it.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

The unlock is a one-time purchase tied to the Apple ID that bought it, so you never pay twice. In most cases you do not have to do anything:

  • Sign in to the App Store on the new device with the same Apple ID that made the purchase.
  • Install TrophyTrail and open it. The app asks the App Store what that Apple ID owns every time it launches and every time it comes back to the foreground, and restores the unlock by itself.

If it has not applied, open the unlock screen (tap an upgrade prompt in the app, for example "Upgrade for More Trails" once you already have 3 trails) and tap Restore Purchases at the bottom of that screen.

Restoring needs an internet connection, because the App Store has to confirm the purchase. If it still does not work, check that you are signed in with the correct Apple ID, then email us.

Please note that your trails, entries, drawings, and photos are not restored this way. They live only on the old device. To move them, use Settings > Backup & Import to export from the old device and import on the new one, or restore the device from an iCloud or computer backup of the whole device.

What data does the app store, and where?

Everything is stored only on your device, using Apple's on-device SwiftData storage. That includes trails and their names, icons, settings and milestones; entries and their notes; drawings; photos attached to entries; and app preferences such as your theme. We never receive any of it, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.

The app sends nothing off the device. The only network traffic it ever causes is the App Store handling the optional purchase and the restore, which Apple performs, not us. Reminders are optional local notifications scheduled by your device; there are no push notifications from a server.

Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete everything?

You have two ways, and both are complete:

  • In the app: open Settings > Data > Delete All Data, then pass the parental gate. This permanently deletes all trails, entries, drawings, photos, and milestones.
  • Delete the app: removing TrophyTrail from your device removes the data it stored along with it.

Because we never receive a copy of your data, there is no server-side copy for us to delete and no request you need to send us. If you want to keep the data first, export it from Settings > Backup & Import before deleting.

Are there ads, tracking, or accounts?

No, none of the three:

  • No advertisements. The app shows no ads of any kind, and no third-party ad network is present.
  • No tracking. There are no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no device fingerprinting, and no tracking of your child across other apps or websites.
  • No accounts. There is no sign-up, no sign-in, and no profile. Your child never enters a name, an email address, or a password to use the app.

What does the purchase cost, and is it a subscription?

It is not a subscription. TrophyTrail is free to use with up to 3 trails, and there is a single optional one-time purchase, "Lifetime Premium", at USD 4.99 (shown in your local currency), which adds unlimited trails and the MilestoneMap view. It does not auto-renew, it never charges you again, and there is nothing to cancel. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, not by us. See our Terms of Service.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Creating trails, filling in entries, drawing, attaching photos, and reaching milestones all work with no internet connection at all. Only the App Store purchase and restore need to be online.
